Sludge that is produced by wastewater treatment plants contains a high proportion of water.

To reduce this proportion, dehydration treatments are performed: 

• Sludge settler
• Drying beds
• Belt filter
• Centrifuge
• Filter press

To improve dryness, ensure sanitation and provide soil conditioning, lime may be used.
